Dear Arbor Academy Parents and Community Members: We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER) which provides key information on the 2009-2010 educational progress for Arbor Academy. The AER addresses the complex reporting information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains information about student assessment, Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and teacher quality. If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Cassandra Trawitz, Arbor Academy principal or Paul Doersam, Director of Schools for assistance. The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following web site www.arbor-academy.org or you may review a copy found in the office of the principal at Arbor Academy. Arbor Academy is proud to say it continues to make Adequate Yearly Progress with an overall grade of A. The report card provides an assessment of several measures of Arbor Academy’s performance. A breakdown of information can be found in the table below. |

| Arbor Academy has earned the composite grade of A for the second year in a row. The school continues to improve programs and practice through the evaluation and implementation of the School Improvement Plan. Using such forums as our Parent Advisory Team meetings, Title I parent meetings, staff meetings and school improvement meetings, we’ve discussed the processes and programs within the Academy that impact student achievement. Arbor continues to work with stakeholders including our Management Company (Foundation for Behavioral Resources), authorizer (Grand Valley State University), our school board and parents to improve upon programs and services.
We pride ourselves on parent communication and involvement. 100% of Arbor families attend fall and spring parent-teacher conferences, but we believe conferencing with parents happens daily. We provide all parents in each grade level a preview report of the week’s objectives in each subject area. Parents are then provided a report with their individual student’s progress for objective every Friday. Parents are engaged in their child’s learning and have real data to support what they’ve mastered each week. Conferencing happens daily at Arbor Academy and parents are involved in their child’s education. As a Public School Academy (PSA), Arbor Academy is a public school of choice. Families in any district or county may enroll their child at Arbor. Arbor Academy continues to strive for excellence through program evaluation and collaboration within the school and local community. We will continue to provide quality education to all Arbor families and work with all stakeholders to ensure all children succeed. |
