Muskovin/Alexander (Second Grade)-

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We are into our second semester now!  We have a lot planned in the second half of our school year.

In math, the class will be starting the money and multiplication units.  Both of these are things that can be practiced at home.  Any time you have extra change lying around, have your student practice counting it.  You can also practice money concepts outside of school anytime that you are shopping or using money in real life.

For reading and writing, the class will be studying adjectives and will be practicing finding the main idea of a story.  We will be reading a lot of books to practice this concept.

During science, we will be studying life cycles.  We will be studying the life cycles of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibian’s fish, and insects.  In social studies, we are going to be finishing our study of economical ideas, and then moving on to looking at our state of Michigan.

We will be having a small Valentine’s Day party on February 14.  Students will be exchanging Valentine’s Day cards.  We will send home a class list as the time gets closer.

Dear Parents,

We want to inform you of the progress our students made during the 2008-2009 school year. We constantly review each student's learning progress to be certain that we are "on track." One way we do this is by employing a widely used and nationally validated achievement test. This test is administered throughout the United States to hundreds of thousands of children annually, both at the beginning, and again at the end of the school year.

Our students have completed the spring test and we can now judge the results of our students' and out teachers' efforts this school year.

Our charts demonstrate the results in greater detail.

We welcome others to join us for the 2010 - 2011 school year!
